Hello!

My name is Miss Anne (she/her) and I am a singer, songwriter, musician, and teaching artist based in Baltimore, MD. As a young kid, I remember feeling so much joy from music- especially making music with others. Music was always around me and ended up playing a large part in who I am today. I want my music classes to instill a lifelong love for music as well as provide positive music experiences where children feel seen, safe, and loved.
When I am not teaching or trying to write the next kid's music hit, I am training for another half or full marathon, eating cinnamon buns from Harmony, rock climbing, hanging out with friends, going on adventures with my dog and partner, and most likely drinking my third cup of coffee for the day.
Why Music with Anne?
Music with Anne supports children and their development
Music with Anne supports caregivers
Being a caregiver of young children is difficult and may bring with it isolation or mental health struggles. Having a consistent, affordable class that is fun and uplifting can make a huge difference in many caregivers’ lives. My classes are unique in that they actively involve caregivers. I introduce songs and activities that the caregivers LOVE and enjoy doing over and over with their child. Did you know that the song “Jolene” makes the perfect lap bounce activity? Or that you can change the words to Michael Jackson’s song “Thriller” to “It’s time to clean up! Clean up all our stuff!?” Because the adults are invested, the little ones love the songs too! Singing and making music with others is proven to reduce cortisol levels. So by participating and being fully present in the music time, caregivers feel less stressed and walk away better equipped to include more music at home. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing a room full of grownups joyfully singing, laughing, dancing, socializing, and playing with their little ones.

I’ve taught for over six years in a variety of classroom and private settings, including working in Baltimore City Schools through the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. I have a BA in Music Education from Goshen College and a Master of Music in Music Education from the Longy School of Music. In other words, I understand music and I understand child development. Combining both these understandings offers a beautiful and powerful tool in early learning. The most important part about music and early learning is that each music experience should build confidence and community, support children’s musical and non musical development, include play, and incorporate children’s ideas! I am extremely passionate about doing just that in my classes!
